life update: I moved to new york city!

Hey, y'all! Phew...it's been a minute since I last wrote a blog post, but I'm so thankful to have the time to get back on the blog and catch up with you all.

A lot has happened in my life since I spoke with you last. Most notably, I got a new job and moved to New York City in August with my boyfriend!

In May, I accepted a new audience engagement job at a journalism nonprofit that makes documentaries. I love what I do and the people I work with! As a result, I was able to make the move from Columbia, South Carolina to New York City.

Moving to NYC is no easy feat, but I'm grateful to have achieved one of my lifelong goals of living in this incredible city, and I could not have gotten here without the support of my friends, family and boyfriend, Davis, who was willing to pick up everything again and embark on this new adventure with me.

When I'm not working, you'll find me these days exploring the city with Davis and catching up with friends and family who live in the area.

I've been fortunate to visit New York City often growing up, but it's a completely different experience living here. In addition to sight-seeing and attempting to hunt down the best pizza, we've had to become familiar with navigating the city on a daily basis, going through the incredibly tedious and stressful process of securing an apartment in New York City and...yes, even dealing with our first mouse-sighting in the apartment (that's a story for another day)!

It's also been a big adjustment making the move from South Carolina. We've traded out Palmetto trees for skyscrapers, BBQ for bagels and our yearlong wardrobe of shorts and t-shirts to puffer coats and snow boots during the winter months. But I wouldn't change it for the world.

My goal over the next year is to continue to explore my new city and share my findings with all of you, from tips & tricks on moving to NYC to some of my favorite restaurants, museums and more.
